Cl. Leger et al., RECOMMENDED DAILY INTAKES OF VITAMINS AND PREVENTION OF SOME PATHOLOGIES, OCL. Oleagineux corps gras lipides, 4(5), 1997, pp. 324-328
Current knowledge suggests that an evolution in the concept of nutriti
onal requirement may be underway. Using such well-known vitamins as vi
tamin A and the carotenoids and vitamins C ard E as examples, it is sh
own that the restrictive notion of requirement to prevent nutritional
deficiency needs to be enlarged to include the requirements to prevent
chronic or degenerative pathologies. This in turn should lead to a re
-examination of the recommended daily intake.
