Given a number of reasonable hypotheses, the mass and charge mean-squa
re radii as well as the electric and magnetic form factors and magneti
c moments for baryons are revisited in the light of general space wave
functions. In particular, the experimental magnetic moments allow to
put very drastic bounds on the quark masses as derived from usual pote
ntial models. It is shown that the experimental situation cannot be ex
plained in the framework of such models.
