Wa. Herrmann et al., FUNCTIONALIZED IMIDAZOLINE-2-YLIDENE COMPLEXES OF RHODIUM AND PALLADIUM, Journal of organometallic chemistry, 547(2), 1997, pp. 357-366
N-Heterocyclic 'carbene' ligands derived from imidazole are alternativ
es for the well-established phosphine ligands in organometallic cataly
sis. In contrast to phosphines, the carbene ligands do not undergo rea
dy dissociation from palladium and rhodium so that immobilization tech
niques appear reasonable. The synthesis of novel, functionalized imida
zoline-2-ylidene complexes suitable for reactions with functionalized
polymers is reported, as well as the synthesis of a water-soluble meta
l complex. Furthermore, model compounds for polyether-substituted imid
azoline-2-ylidene complexes are presented. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S
