We describe three types of induced seismicity observed in Liaoning Pro
vince, China: reservoir-induced seismicity, mine-induced seismicity an
d collapse earthquakes. A shock with magnitude M = 5.2 took place on D
ecember 22, 1974 at Shenwo Reservoir and some smaller earthquakes caus
ed by impoundment also took place near other reservoirs, Numerous eart
hquakes associated with mining activity occurred in some coal mines. 5
6 collapse earthquakes with magnitude of M > 1.8 occurred at Binggou c
oal mine in Jianchang county. An analysis of the cause and some featur
es of these three categories of the induced earthquakes are described
in this paper.
