Ya. Tkachev et Ti. Ivanova, MATHEMATICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF BUDGET EQUATIONS OF ORGANIC-MATTER ELEMENTS DURING COALIFICATION, Geologia i geofizika, 38(11), 1997, pp. 1737-1746
Budget equations of organic matter elements during coalification have
been investigated in order to test the correctness of the forecast for
the gas generation potential of the coals. Computer modeling has firs
t established the width of the interval of permissible solutions. It i
s usually 60 rel.% for OM loss, which gives a relative error for metha
ne of 90 vol. % and 130 wt. %. It has been established by mathematical
analysis and numerical modeling that the stage-by-stage calculation m
ay considerably improve the solution in the case of strongly different
iated relative rates of the H and O loss from OM. With the five OM ele
ments (C, O, H, N, S) included into the calculation, the forecast is a
lso improved.
