Objective: To identify determinants for participation and to assess wh
ich factors most significantly influenced intention to participate in
CPR classes among individuals aged 60 and older. Methods: 210 older ad
ults in Tarrant County, Texas responded to a self-administered questio
nnaire de signed to determine their willingness to participate in CPR
training. Results. A relationship was found between behavioral intenti
on and employment status, age, desire for CPR on self, and desire for
CPR on others. Conclusion: Older Americans are willing to undergo CPR
training, but encounter a number of barriers that prevent them from ta
king CPR classes.
