Abstract
A viscosimetric method was used to investigate the molecular associati on of dextran, 20% and 40% periodate-oxidized dextrans in aqueous solu tions. Intrinsic viscosity numbers, [eta], found by Huggins and Kraeme r equations, decreased in the presence of denaturing agents like urea, thiourea and guanidinium sulfate. Intrinsic viscosity values also dec reased with increasing temperature. This decrease has been even less i n the presence of denaturing agents. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
