Rd. Raju et al., A S-ISOTOPIC STUDY OF THE BARYTE AND GALENA FROM QUARTZ-BARYTE VEINS AT RASIMALAI, NORTH-ARCOT-AMBEDKAR DISTRICT, TAMIL-NADU, Journal of the Geological Society of India, 51(1), 1998, pp. 93-96
This study shows delta(34)S values for the study of co-existing baryte
and galena, respectively, are in the ranges of +6.9 to 8.0 parts per
thousand and -6.0 to -9.8 parts per thousand. Such narrow ranges make
biogenic sedimentary source for sulphur less likely and suggest magmat
ic source. Sulphur isotope values indicate a hydrothermal system with
a T of similar to 440 degrees C, pH 5+/-1 and Log fO(2) of -34 to -37.
