Abstract
Calcretes are widely distributed in the arid and semi-arid tracts of t he Thar Desert. Strategically important roads of this desert region ne ed a suitable, locally available paving material. Mineralogy, physical and geotechnical properties of calcretes indicate their suitability f or road pavements.
