Fullerite (C-60) films have been grown on mica, glass, sodium chloride
and hard diamond-like carbon over a temperature range from 20 to 250
degrees C. A number of films with contrasting morphologies for differe
nt film thicknesses are investigated. Scanning force microscopy and X-
ray diffraction are used to analyse the films. The unusual growth char
acteristics of molecular C-60 on the different substrates are discusse
d and compared. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
