Dm. Kambarage et Ljm. Kusiluka, PARASITIC OTITIS ASSOCIATED WITH PSOROPTES INFESTATION IN GOATS, Journal of Applied Animal Research, 12(2), 1997, pp. 173-176
The prevalence of parasitic otitis caused by Psoroptes cuniculi was de
termined in 13 goat herds with a total of 457 goats. Clinical and para
sitological examination revealed a low prevalence of disease in 9 and
5 herds, respectively. Variable degrees of scab formation were evident
in affected animals, whereas, less frequent clinical signs were cranc
kled ears, hematomas and tilting;of;the ears. A single dose of ivermec
tin at a rate of 0.2 mg/kg body weight given subcutaneously cured the
disease.
