Abstract
Lasers composed of a gain medium between two microparticles acting as Mie scatterers have been dealt with. Under conditions met, e.g., in st rongly pumped dyes or semiconductors containing at least two subwavele ngth particles differing in refractive index from matrix, laser radiat ion evolves at the mode frequencies of the respective resonator. Thres hold, output power, slope efficiency, and linewidth have been calculat ed. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
