The advantages of the experimental synthesis of behavior (ESB) for the
study of mental (developmental) retardation and its modification, are
presented. This unifying paradigm for psychology has been applied to
many areas of psychological research and professional work. The causes
of mental retardation are better explained by ESB. Also the modificat
ion programs are more effective if all the variables proposed by the E
SB are taking into consideration. A number of examples are presented.
