Abstract
This paper on Candida rugosa reviews its taxonomy, morphology, cultiva tion methods and inducers for its lipase production. A brief account o n isolation and purification of C. rugosa lipases along with biotechno logical versatility is presented,which outlines its broadening horizon s in the industrial world. In addition, a list of major lipase produci ng microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeasts is also included , in view of their co-existence in bio-industry.
