MODELING A USERS DOMAIN KNOWLEDGE WITH NEURAL NETWORKS

This article presents a neural network approach for user modeling. A s et of neural networks is utilized to represent and infer users' task-r elated characteristics. These networks function as associative memorie s that can capture the causal relations among users' characteristics f or the system adaptation. It is suggested that this approach can be ex pected to overcome some inherent problems of the conventional stereoty ping approaches in terms of pattern recognition and classification of user characteristics.
