Abstract
The membrane activity of new 15-membered peptaibol-type antibiotics, a mpullosporin (I) from Sepedonium ampullosporum and bergofungin (II) fr om Emericellopsis donezkii, was tested by use of an artificial bilayer membrane, Bergofungin (II) conveys protons more efficiently than ampu llosporin (I) suggesting that the-nature and the sequence of the const ituting amino acids determine their special effect on ion penetration.
