Abstract
Extraction of the aerial parts of Ophiorrhiza bracteata Bl. (Rubiaceae ) has yielded the known quaternary indole alkaloid ophiorrhizine (1) a nd the new glucoindole alkaloid bracteatine (2), the structure of whic h followed from its spectroscopic properties.
