Pe. Crossen et Mj. Morrison, HYPERMETHYLATION OF THE M27-BETA (DXS255) LOCUS IN CHRONIC B-CELL LEUKEMIA, British Journal of Haematology, 100(1), 1998, pp. 191-193
We have investigated the methylation status of the M27 beta (DXS255) l
ocus in 21 female patients with chronic B-cell leukaemia and in 20 nor
mal controls. DNA was digested with PstI and then with the methylation
sensitive enzyme HpaII and probed with the M27 beta probe. Eight pati
ents (38%) showed hypermethylation of the M27 beta locus which was not
seen in any of the normal controls. Hypermethylation of the M27 beta
locus has also been found in acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphocyti
c leukaemia and lymphoma, suggesting that hypermethylation of the M27
beta locus is associated with the leukaemic process.
