In the present study, solid-state nutation NMR is performed to investi
gate the local structures in berate glasses. B-11 NMR powder patterns
produce two significant responses with different Values of Q(cc) arisi
ng from the two major boron sites. Changes in N-4, the fraction of bor
on atoms in BO4 units, are observed and compared with the previously r
eported data. The results show that solid-state nutation NMR is a prom
ising and potentially useful characterization method for determining t
he structures of many interesting materials in which several sites con
tain overlapping static NMR powder patterns with different Q(cc) value
s.
