Abstract
An original combination of two cascaded multifrequency acousto-optic m odulators, based on the tangential phase matching anisotropic interact ion, is presented. This configuration allows to greatly reduce the pha se grating intermodulation products and to increase the diffraction ef ficiency. For experimental validation, multifrequency paratellurite ac ousto-optic devices have been realized and tested. The whole modulatio n line operates with eight diffracted and independently modulated beam s. A high diffraction efficiency (80%) is obtained. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics.
