Electron impact excitation of the lowest nine excited levels (5p(5)6s
P-3(2)o, P-3(1)o P-3(0)o, P-1(1)o and 5p(5)6p S-3(1)e, D-3(3)e D-3(2)e
D-3(1)e D-1(2)e) of Xe is studied theoretically. The cross sections,
both integral and differential, are calculated up to 35 eV using the B
reit-Pauli R-matrix method. At collision energies below 15 eV, all the
integral cross sections show resonance structure. At 15 and 20 eV, th
e resulting differential cross sections are compared with experimental
results. The overall agreement is satisfactory.
