Abstract
A new nonsingularity criterion for an n x n real matrix A based on sig n distribution and some conditions on the elements is given. This work was motivated by the solution of Poisson's equation for doubly connec ted regions. We consider a matrix A arising in the above application t o demonstrate the theory.
