Abstract
The Michael adducts, 4-ketocyclohexane dicarboxylates 2 are converted to their semicarbazones 3. The latter on reaction with SeO2 and SOCl2 yield a new class of selenadiazoles 4 and thiadiazoles 5, respectively . They are characterized by their spectral (IR,H-1 NMR and mass) data.
