Abstract
Benzylation of N-phenyl-2-phenylacetamide with benzyl chloride in the presence of powdered KOH has been carried out to find out the possible reaction products as well as to ascertain optimal reaction conditions for the synthesis of different products. Alkylation reactions have be en carried out in the presence of various phase-transfer catalysts, so lvents and temperatures furnishing N-, O-, and C-products. N-product h as been found to be the main product in most of the used systems.
