Abstract
The quantum reflection pole method (QRPM) is introduced for determinin g quasibound state eigenenergies and their lifetimes in symmetric, asy mmetric, biased, and unbiased quantum heterostructures. In the QRPM th e single-band effective-mass Schrodinger equation is solved without us ing complex arithmetic. Calculations are much simpler to perform than with previous methods. Further, results are found to be in excellent a greement with other rigorous techniques. (C) 1997 Academic Press Limit ed.
