The proximate, antinutrient substances, mineral elements and amino aci
ds composition of cooked Potadoma freethi and Coclicella acuta were de
termined, The moisture contents of the samples were 73.47 and 70.16, r
espectively. Crude proteins, crude fat, and ash contents were 38.33 an
d 56.40; 2.50 and 4.40; 11.27 and 9.86% of dry matter, respectively. B
oth samples were found to be rich in sodium, potassium, magnesium and
calcium, while iron, manganese, zinc and copper were present in small
quantities, Also, both samples were richer in most of the essential am
ino acids than hen's egg, the limiting amino acid being methlonine wit
h a chemical score of 71.9 in P. freethi and 52.0% in C. acuta.
