Abstract
The paper summarizes the answers to given questions and the lecture he ld on the occasion of a hearing of the Enquete-Kommission ''Demographi c change'' of the German Parliament. The subject was the problem of co st-effectiveness of rehabilitation measures. The position of geriatric rehabilitation in Germany as an established and efficient method ist described. The indication for rehabilitation must be correctly and ind ividually determined, and the treatment should be available to patient s in all communities.
