Abstract
We report the case of a patient in whom Wernicke's encephalopathy, occ urred after a prolonged postoperative starvation. The pathophysiology of WE and the possible differential diagnoses of neurologic disturbanc es occurring in the postoperative phase are reviewed and discussed.
