A SERIES OF NEW MOLECULAR-COMPLEXES C-60(S4N4)(2-X)(C6H6)(X) - SYNTHESIS, X-RAY STUDY OF CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE AND STRUCTURAL DISORDER

The reaction of C-60 with tetrasulfur tetranitride donor in benzene yi elded a continuous series of molecular complexes: C-60(S4N4)(2-x)(C6H6 )(x). The study of the crystal structure of tie compound with x = 0.67 reveals it to have a layered structure with alternating sheets of den sely packed C-60 molecules and the sheets of the donor and benzene mol ecules. A statistic disorder of S4N4 and C6H6 molecules in one of two positions of guest molecules was found. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
