Cydista (Bignoniaceae) is a genus of six primarily lowland species ran
ging from central and southern Mexico to Paraguay and eastern Brazil.
All species are lianas with showy white to magenta campanulate-funnelf
orm flowers, linear to linear-oblong fruit, and winged seeds. This pap
er builds on the work of the late Alwyn H. Gentry and utilizes an exte
