Abstract
An austenitic stainless steel was simultaneously irradiated with a tri ple beam of nickel, helium and hydrogen ions in the temperature range 573-673 K. Microstructural evolution in the specimen was observed from the cross-sectional direction normal to the incident surface using a transmission electron microscope. Synergistic effects of displacement damage, hydrogen and helium were characterized by decreasing the numbe r density of dislocation loops in this temperature range. (C) 1997 Els evier Science Ltd.
