M. Becireviclacan et N. Skalko, HYDROCORTISONE CYCLODEXTRIN COMPLEX - COMPLEXATION METHODS AND COMPLEX INCORPORATION IN LIPOSOMES/, STP PHARMA SCIENCES, 7(5), 1997, pp. 343-347
Hydrocortisone acetate was complexed with gamma-cyclodextrin to form a
hydrocortisone/cyclodextrin inclusion complex. Two con?complexation m
ethods were applied i.e. the coprecipitation and spray-drying methods.
Drug alone, hydrocortisone/cyclodextrin complex I and hydrocortisone/
cyclodextrin complex II were incorporated into liposomes destined for
topical application. The highest achieved entrapment of the drug was e
qual for liposomes containing hydrocortisone or hydrocortisone/cyclode
xtrin complex II. The complexation, method (spray-drying) and liposome
preparation method (dilution of proliposome mixture) are simple and e
xhibit great potential for industrial production.
