Abstract
This article reports the design considerations, implementation, and pe rformance of an instrument, used to measure the slope of current-volta ge (I-V) characteristics of ionospheric plasma, for onboard measuremen t of charged particle temperatures. The instrument measures the reflec ted ac signal in the probe current, when an ac voltage is superposed o ver the probe bias, and is designed for the slope measurement from 6.3 x 10(-14) A/V-2 to 6.3 x 10(-9) A/V-2 with full scale resolution of 0 .2%.
