Propagation of an electromagnetic pulse over an impedance surface exci
ted by a parallel-plate waveguide is studied analytically and numerica
lly. Conditions for the anomalous low-loss pulse propagation (the elec
tromagnetic bullet phenomenon) are established. Spectra and shapes of
the radiated and reflected pulses for various waveguide aperture heigh
ts and distances from the radiating system are obtained. Matching of t
he radiating system to free space is also addressed.
