Although the overall tenor of the poem doesn't tend unambiguously to the promotion of narcissism, the poem it self contents a number of pictures corresponding to narcissism which h ad a far-reaching cultural meaning, Nietzsche was evidently the first creator who presented systematically the peculiar attraction of egocen tric and narcissistic motives for the human mind in his work.
