Nk. Valitov, CHEMICAL CONVERSION OF A MODEL CUMENE HYDROCARBON TO A CARBONIUM-ION ON A CRACKING CATALYST, Petroleum chemistry, 37(4), 1997, pp. 351-356
The question of the mechanism of formation of carbonium ions on Lewis
or Bronsted acid centres remains unclear. Studies of the chemical conv
ersion of a model cumene hydrocarbon and also its chemisorption on a c
racking catalyst by means of gas-liquid chromatography have shown that
carbonium ions are formed from isothermally desorbable cumene chemiso
rbed on Lewis acid centres. The proton sources are the OH groups chemi
sorbed on the catalyst. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights rese
