Triphenyltin(IV) compounds of p-ethoxybenzoic acid and acetylsalicylic
acid contain molecular units with Sn-O bonds and distorted tetrahedra
l tin centers, The phthalic acid derivative contains two four-coordina
te tin atoms between which the phthalic acid unit effectively forms a
bridge, The salicy-laldehydato compound is polymeric with trigonal bip
yramidal tin centers in which the phenyl groups take equatorial positi
ons. The polymerization occurs via the aldehyde oxygen atom bonding to
a neighboring tin atom. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
