HYDRODYNAMIC AND CONFORMATIONAL CHARACTER ISTICS OF PARA-AROMATIC POLYESTERS WITH DIMETHYLSILOXANE FRAGMENTS IN THE BACKBONE

Conformational characteristics of para-aromatic polyesters with dimeth ylsiloxane fragments in the backbone are studied by hydrodynamic metho ds. A difference in the mesogenic properties of these polymers is disc ussed. It is shown that the effect of introducing two methylene groups into molecular chains of these polymers is similar to the parity effe ct observed in a nematic liquid crystal polymer when each new even met hylene group is introduced into flexible fragments of its molecules.
