BIODEGRADABLE POLYMERS

The published data on biodegradable polymers used as film packing mate rials are summarized. Different methods for the preparation of biodegr adable polymers and materials from monomers, oligomers, and chain exte nders by chemical transformation of macromolecules and mixing of polym ers are described. Biodegradability of polymers is considered as a fun ction of chemical structure, molecular mass, and supermolecular struct ure of polymers, and some other factors. Different approaches to the p reparation of biodegradable polymers are examined taking into account the necessity of joint solution of chemical and microbiological proble ms.
