Abstract
The behavior of a quasi-two-dimensional shear flow is studied numerica lly for large supercriticalities. Bottom influence is considered in th e approximation of friction linear in velocity (Rayleigh friction). A comparison between results obtained and available experimental data sh ows that this approximation is correct for small and moderate supercri ticalities. For large supercriticalities, disagreement with the experi mental data is found, which appears to be due to the manifestation of three-dimensional effects.
