A field trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a barrier
of zeolite in protecting timber from subterranean termite damage. The
protection afforded by the zeolite was assessed after 11 weeks. The z
eolite did not prevent damage by the subterranean termite Coptotermes
acinaciformis (Froggatt). The test method provided a high subterranean
termite risk and may have application with other potential barrier sy
stems where such conditions are necessary to demonstrate effectiveness
