This article describes the family dynamics of the workaholic family, b
ased on emerging research and the families the author has seen in trea
tment. A case study is presented as an illustration, followed by struc
tural and dynamic characteristics of the workaholic family and treatme
nt recommendations. It is suggested that family members also are negat
ively affected by workaholism and may develop a set of mental health p
roblems of their own.
