Abstract
A refinement strategy for fully adaptive hp-finite element solution of elliptic boundary value problems is presented. The algorithm is based on the local regularity of the exact solution. A method is given for estimating the local regularity a posteriori. The performance of the a lgorithm is illustrated for some simple representative problems. (C) 1 998 Elsevier Science B.V.
