COMPARISON OF POLARIZATION OBSERVABLES IN ELECTRON-SCATTERING FROM THE PROTON AND DEUTERON

Recoil proton polarization observables were measured for both the p((e ) over right arrow,e'(p) over right arrow) and d((e) over right arrow, e'(p) over right arrow)n reactions at two values of Q(2) using a newly commissioned proton focal plane polarimeter at the MIT-Bates Linear A ccelerator Center. The hydrogen and deuterium spin-dependent observabl es D-ll and D-lt, the induced polarization P-n, and the form factor ra tio G(E)(P)/G(M)(P) were measured under identical kinematics. The deut erium and hydrogen results are in good agreement with each other and w ith the plane-wave impulse approximation (PWIA).
