This paper describes a synthesis of various studies on non-Darcy flow
in rockfill material. Based on pipe theory and Taylor's (1948) definit
ion for mean hydraulics radius in rockfill material, theoretical relat
ionships between friction coefficient and Reynolds number and relation
ships between hydraulic gradient and bulk seepage velocity have been o
btained. The new relationships between hydraulic gradient and bulk vel
ocity are then compared to the various formulas for rockfill available
in the literature by computer simulation.
