Abstract
Three new perylene-3,4-dicarboximide chromophores 5a-c have been synth esized. They are characterized by high extinction coefficients and exc ellent thermal and photochemical stability. They display liquid crysta llinity and exhibit several discotic phases depending upon temperature and substitution pattern.
