Em. Glebov et al., REACTION-MECHANISM AND STRUCTURE OF PRODUCTS IN PHOTOCHEMICAL-TRANSFORMATIONS OF COPPER(II) HEPTAFLUOROBUTYRATE IN METHANOL, Journal of structural chemistry, 38(4), 1997, pp. 550-555
The mechanism of photochemical transformations of copper(II) heptafluo
robutyrate in methanol is studied. The structure of products and inter
mediate compounds is investigated. Photolysis occurs as a two-step pro
cess. The first step involves changes in the coordination sphere of th
e Cu(II) ion. The second step is photoreduction of Cu(II) forming meta
llic copper and Cu(II) fluoride as a complex with methanol. In the pre
sence of oxygen, the first step is reversible. A scheme of these proce
sses is suggested.
