Hj. Jordening et W. Kuster, OPERATING EXPERIENCES WITH AN ANAEROBIC F LUIDIZED-BED REACTOR FOR THE TREATMENT OF SUGAR FACTORY WASTE-WATER, Zuckerindustrie, 122(12), 1997, pp. 934-936
The Clauen sugar factory of Zuckerverbund Nord installed a new waste w
ater treatment system for the 1995 campaign. For the first time in the
sugar industry, a fluidized-bed system was employed for the treatment
of highly charged waste water, which had been developed in several st
ages from laboratory to 10m(3)-scale by the Braunschweig Sugar Institu
te and built by Braunschweigische Maschinen-bauanstalt (BMA). After ab
out 200 days of operation (two crops and a between-season waste water
campaign), the reactor was completely emptied, in order to be able to
examine its overall condition. This offers the opportunity for a closi
ng assessment of the system, which summarizes the experiences to date.
