J. John et al., COMPOSITE ABSORBERS CONSISTING OF INORGANIC ION-EXCHANGERS AND POLYACRYLONITRILE BINDING MATRIX - LEACHING OF CS-137 FROM CEMENTED NIFC-PANABSORBER, Radiochimica Acta, 78, 1997, pp. 131-135
Results of dynamic leaching tests of Cs-137 from caesium loaded cement
ed NiFC-PAN composite absorber (nickel hexacyanoferrate active compone
nt in a binding matrix of modified polyacrylonitrile) have shown that
cumulative fractions leached were similar to 100 times lower when comp
ared to cemented Cs-137 solution. Diffusion coefficients as low as 1.1
0(-16) m(2) . s(-1) were found for the best samples (1% of clinoptilol
ite). The activation energy of the leaching process was found to be as
high as 130 kJ . mole(-1).
