This review surveys enantiomer separation by capillary electrophoresis
(CE) using polysaccharides as chiral selectors. Many ionic or electri
cally neutral polysaccharides, such as heparin, chondroitin sulfate, d
extrin, etc., have been employed successfully for the CE separation of
enantiomers. The operational conditions that affect the enantioselect
ivity of the chiral separation system will be described. The mechanism
of enantioseparation will also be discussed briefly. (C) 1997 Elsevie
